- On Nov. 10 and 11, the Gem of India restaurant brought even more Indian flavor to Springfield with their 16th Annual Diwali Festival of Lights.
- “There was something people here wanted to see that had some Indian touch to it, so we decided to do this,” said Gurnek Singh.
- The Singh family brought a rare cultural event to a place that craves more of them. This is the only festival of its kind in the Springfield area.
- The festival included traditional Indian food and folk dance, belly dancers, henna tattooing, a free photo booth and a live disc jockey.
